Ripietra tiles look like natural stone, but are completely made of recycled material. The composite material is produced by extrusion and moulding, consisting of 55% polyethylene derived from urban waste and 45% of wood derived from industrial processing waste. The material is sturdy and weather resistant: it does not deform under the sun and does not freeze, for instance. Furthermore, the material is resistant to chemical agents and does not require maintenance. The tiles are anti slip and, if they are sunk into the ground, stand vehicle traffic. The tiles, available in one size and one colour only, are suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Ripietra is 100% recycled and 100% recyclable.

They come in a variety of finishes and u can specify what u what your metal fabric to be composed of.

one of there metal fabrics : Charlie bravo was used in Ron Arad's chairs

type of mesh....
twentinox does not produce just one type of mesh, there r 11 different mesh fabrics based on how they are connected together, metal, spaces, dimensions.... product overview n categories

all in all I think this a fantastic materiel as its versatile  and its  can be put to more imaginative  uses than a suit of armour :P

werner aisslinger: hemp chair

werner working on the prototype
werner aisslinger: hemp chair: "traditionally, monobloc stackable chairs have been developed with reinforced plastics.
'hemp chair by berlin-based designer/architect werner aisslinger is the first monochair designed with a new technology
in which natural fibers like hemp that are moulded under heat with a special ecological glue resulting in
a sustainable composite material. a complete structure done in a thin layer of material is one of the most
complicated ways to design and engineer a chair. aisslinger's design which features soft curves,
along with a horizontal and vertical ring structure, is a new approach to this complex seating typology.
werner aisslinger is working in partnership with BASF acrodur on the production of the chair
the technology that has been utilized for the 'hemp chair' allows one to use 100 percent natural fibres
in combination with a water-based glue that contains no phenols or formaldehyd. this process enables low cost mass production for 3D objects with a high stability and low specific weight." - werner-aisslinger - hemp-chair
and who doesn't luv hemp ;)

"Like glass itself, Lane’s work is sometimes modernist in its simplicity, and, in a different mood, baroque in its pleasure in ornament." - dannylane.co.uk
I love the way danny plays with form and curves in his sculptures, products and interiors.
he demonstrates how you can get so many different effects and personality out of a single material.

Etruscan Chair (1986)
its said he brought the pionrerred  broken glass as stylish in the 80s when that era's design was slick so that conset was very fresh, i think thats what i like about his work its different because he keeps testing the materials he is using and questioning the process n has mastered them.
Lane’s sculptures exploit the strength of glass under compression and combine feats of design and engineering to produce work, breathtaking in its apparent simplicity. -dannylane.co.uk

i get ideas from every where... just watched this n thought wat if u had led light in rows on a ceiling and they where lined up with projectors built into a floor so an image ie fire could be projected up from the ground and illuminated from above?! might look interesting, because it would look like u r walking through flames.

AQUASCRIPT ... would luv to deliver an essay like this :p

the power of water n wordz n imagery
imagine how we will receive important  information in the future

I was blown away when i saw this just stared for ages trying to work out how it was happening!
this company is a brilliant way of getting people to notice a message...
"Aquascript breaks through traditional boundaries of information transfer...a dynamic information transfer waterfall" - Aquascript

  • how it works: well as i understand it.. a proprietary computer system and software synchronizes the hundreds of valves which control each drop of water thus each drop creates a clear defined muster.

suitable for indoors or outdoors spaces and for any purpose, it can be synced with music lights, projections, sensors , interface, lasers....whatever ur imagination can come up wid.... I used this in my shed project to display pictures and sounds and smells from around the Amazon in to the shed.

Amazing Pop Up Card Tutorial

I saw the amazing paper structures made by Peter Dahmen  he is a graphic designer from Germany.

This was one of his tutorials on how to create a paper structure which i followed and integrated into my "box of me"

I love what he is able to do with paper and he has far more elaborate complicated paper
structure but no tutorials for those as they are unique pieces of his art. still luv it doe <3

awesome clock

so kool! can use this technology 4 so many things!

berlin design fair 2011

These are a couple of designs i found really interesting, some are interesting because of truth to materials others show a new way of using that material.
Others are interesting because its the form of the object, i like curves made by materials that are typically rigid.
product design inspires interior design, they work hand in hand as they can be the focal point of an interior space.
They also help us understand how design is movin forward and pastiching past eras and responding to the demands by modern society ie sustainable  eco design to combat global warming.

like being inside a balloon or a grown up bouncy castle :P

" Offer a creative and competitive way to enclose any space."

these temporary structures can be used for an interior/exterior space, highly functional. U can choose from the lite range which can be as simple as a single inflatable wall, to elaborate towering structures ie the turtle or dome ranges.
the materials vary but the FAQs say "All fabrics used are reinforced with nylon or polyester to stop any punctures or hole expanding."
